Hellier Instructor/Consultant Highlight - Timothy MacInnis

Timothy MacInnis Timothy MacInnis came to Hellier in 2005 as a Consultant. During his years with Hellier Northeast, Tim has taught many programs mainly Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current Testing Levels I and II, both in house programs and programs contracted at clients' sites. Tim was instrumental in the development and teaching of the first Phased Array program offered by Hellier Northeast in 2007.

Tim has a wide range of experience in the NDT industries. He has provided technical expertise for the Federal Aviation Administration on POD Experiments, as well as in the commercial industries. His training programs ranged from specific equipment operation, component inspection procedures to Imaging Theory. He was a Senior NDT Engineer NAS410 Level III UT at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). A key member in the development of a Field Immersion Rotary Scanner Test System, and a key member in the development of the patented "ACES", an Automatic Couplant Ejection System, the first device to bring true immersion techniques to the field and on the aircraft.

His publications, to name a few, include:
• "Ultrasonic Imaging of Helicopter Rotor Blades"
• "Ultrasonic Characterization of Bolted and Bonded Joints Using Feature Maps and Ultrasonic Imaging Techniques"
• "C-141 Spanwise Splice Advanced NDI Method"
• "Innovative UT Inspection of Aging Aircraft"
• "Field Deployable Immersion Scanning (Without a Tank)"
• "Enhanced NDE Techniques for the C-130 Center Wing"

In 2002, Tim was awarded a Patent for the "Method and Apparatus for Ultrasonic NonDestructive Inspection" - Patent # US 6,481,290 B1

Tim rides his motorcycle on a regular basis to the Hellier Training Center in New London, Connecticut. His dedication, his passion, his professionalism, is expressed in the excellent evaluations he has received from many individuals who attended his NDT training programs. Tim has built many bridges between Hellier and its clients.

As announced in our July News Letter, Hellier Northeast has completed the move from Niantic, CT to the new location at 1 Spar Yard Street, New London, CT. Details about our open house will be forthcoming in our next newsletter.


ASNT FALL CONFERENCE

The ASNT 2008 Fall Conference will be held in Charlestown, SC on November 10-14, 2008. Hellier is a proud sponsor of the conference. Please come by and visit our booth number 331 for a copy of our 2009 program, to talk about our new programs for 2009 and other services.

"Ultrasonic Immersion and Imaging Techniques" - A five day program excellent for those deciding if imaging is cost effective of for those who want to get more from their imaging or immersion system.
